About us

My journey into art began many years ago as a young lad wanting to be the next Turner, one of many artists I admire; and like many issues with being young, life got in the way. I stopped creating at 18, through a combination of life events and only recently began to create again some 30+ years later in 2015, through friends discovering my work from all those years ago. Again life got in the way, illness, mental health and having a lot of spare time due to complicated health issues and being unable to work, I started an HND in Art through my great friend and amazing marine artist Mick Smith, where I regained my confidence and gained many friends who have themselves become established artists and my now wife Michelle, who has been a massive influence in my life ever since, a calming thoughtful loving person and if it wasn't for her I wouldn't be here now putting out my life story through my art. My work is not defined in a particular area, I basically create what I feel at the time, I do not have a specific category and the work comes from heart.

Our studio Miru Art Studio is based in the B.Box Studios, next to The Biscuit Factory in Newcastle upon Tyne, in the vibrant creative area of The Ouseburn, a wonderful collective of artists, students, music venues and great bars and pubs, well worth a visit. The studio comprises of myself, my wonderful wife Michelle, an accomplished artist and photographer, and a very close friend of ours Danni Helm and amazing artist when she gets time off from 2 young very energetic children bless her, her work will filter through more over the next year or two. This site is new and we have rebranded under my name, not my choice I hasten to add, I do as I'm told lol, you will get a warm welcome, a smile and some good conversation, give us a visit and see what's on offer.
